Expression58 FLI Internship: Foundational Leadership Internship-
bringing young people into a deliberate supernatural lifestyle
The Vision

Expression58 FLI Internship (formerly Iburn internship) was first birthed in 2003 when Shawn Bolz was in Canada at a conference. He saw a young man leading on the worship team and he knew the desperation in this young adults heart to be one who brings the kingdom of heaven upon the earth. He also could see the deep heart of devotion and intimacy he had. As this young mans heart and spirit were revealed to Shawn, the Lord spoke to Him and said "You are looking at one of my champions. I am sending him to you for a season so that he can learn to lead a deliberate and supernatural lifestyle."

From that day on Shawn's eyes opened to many young adults who were already touched with the hand of the Lord but needed to be spiritually challenged to engage fully in who God is and who they are in Him.

All throughout the world we put our young in seminar style class rooms and teach them how to do the kingdom, and sometimes these schools even challenge them to engage in kingdom activities. Many times when a student graduates they end up not knowing how to make the next step in their calling or in their relationship with God. They know enough to want to go wholeheartedly into their future, but they don't have enough of a grasp on what the next steps are, nor do they have a complete grasp on how to get to the destination of destiny.

FLI internship is a next step internship for those young people who have pursued leadership training in the past but need to be in a revelatory environment where the realities of their future, identity, and calling can be galvanized into their spirit. This will happen both through the atmosphere of a presence seeking people, as well as through a deliberate and purposed focus of leaders towards their lives.

Our internships emphasize a do and teach approach with impartation allowing everyone to practice with the goal being to learn oneself as well as how to be a part of a community and team. Everything we do and learn has to be carried out with a heart that understands that we have to engage God on His terms to find our identity.

What Does it Look Like?

In FLI Internship You will:
  • Do the Stuff: During the internship you will lead in outreaches, prophecy, pray for healing, lead in your own specific skill types, you will do the stuff! Even though the environment is a freedom to fail grace based place, we are never just practicing. Everything we do is real and deliberate and we do it in a maturing process. This means that what you do while with FLI can truly build equity into your future self because you are not pretending or playing church, you are pursuing God to establish the kingdom in real ways through your life.
  •  Learn How to Make Life a Prophetic Journey of Faith: one of the strengths of our internship is the leadership that leads it. We are not a traditional people but have been living life as a radical journey of obedience and faith. The anointing is caught more then it is taught. By being a part of a culture of radical leadership along with others who are pursuing an supernaturally natural lifestyle, you will find yourself on a unique platform that will develop your life skills in a unique way. Learn how to make deliberate steps in the journey of life by finding out the desires of God and consistently walking in personal obedience to these great desires. How do you walk in favor? How do you walk in anointing? How do you walk in influence? FLI helps you gain an understanding of the Lord's heart in these areas, equipping you with the know how to take on life so you never get stuck!
  • Learn Ultimate Teachability: One of the things that keeps us on the fast tract is being teachable in our knowledge, our heart attitudes, our relational skills, and our spirituality. In FLI you will be in an environment where you will be challenged on so many levels and you will be encouraged to constantly move forward.
  • Get the Lord's heart for the poor: 1 Peter 1:4 says we get to participate with the divine nature of Christ, this can be increased the fastest when we touch the poor because we put a demand on Heaven's response when we touch them. During the internship you will get a heart for social justice issues which are also spiritual justice issues. Through an in depth look on national and international issues with the poor on the earth you will then begin to take on outreaches and a pursuit towards developing a heart for the poor that has real reach.
  • Minister on Prophetic and Healing Teams: We do a quick but thorough training, and then launch you out into touching heaven on behalf of others in tangible ways. Many times we get training but are not challenged to pursue consistently what we have just learned. There is no better time then now to go for it with a whole heart!
  • Teach/preach: Several times in the internship you will teach and preach. Overcome fears, learn yourself and your communication abilities and when you don't feel you have them, learn how to lean on the very nature of Christ who is so powerfully at work within you! Communication is one of the main ways the kingdom of God manifests on earth, its time for you to have something to say.
  • Learn Team/Family: Be in an organic family environment where team is valued more then a one gifted man/woman show. Learn how to flow with others in a way that only intensifies and enhances your own calling and destiny.
  • Have Fun: We believe in praying hard and playing hard! Come be a part of a family that ministers hard, goes deep into the devotional heart, but also knows how to have fun! Come to Los Angeles where we go on not only prophetic journeys throughout the city, but you get to also engage in many activities that the region has to offer. Can you be spiritual while having natural fun?

The Practicals:

Dates of the internships for 2007/2008: The Fall 2007 internship is from September 15-December 15. The Winter/Spring Internship is from February 1-April 30 2008.

Living: During the internship you will live together with the other interns in close quarters. For the entire three months you will live in a community environment. This can be difficult but it is also enables everyone to stay fully engaged.

Costs: The cost is $3,500 which includes housing, food, travel, materials such as books, journals, teaching CD's, guest speakers, and fun.

Day to Day: There is something happening every day, there are 10 classes a week, only four of these are teaching style and many times you will find yourself or a fellow intern being the teacher. Everything we do is to encourage you to step out and discover your own depth in God and that of those with you in the program. We worship almost everyday usually multiple times a day (if you are a worshiper you will most likely be on duty many times throughout the program). We also do a lot of spiritually focused outreaches. Every day you will journal, worship, learn, share, contend for the supernatural, delve into the heart of God, and share in community. There is one and a half day off during the week which you will need to absorb and rest.

Leadership: There are leaders who are specifically working full time with the program, but everyone on Expression58's core leadership team will spend some time in the internship. Also many of the internship alumni will also teach, lead outreach, inspire, worship with you, etc. The main leadership of Expression58 will spend quality time with you weekly and sometimes daily, so you will have personal life time with Shawn Bolz, Paula Benne, Jonatan and Jennifer Toledo and Jesse Grim. They will teach classes, do fire side chats, have you over for dinners, go with you on outreaches, and be hands on and hearts open for you.
Events: During the internship you will get to be a part of several Conference type events where you will take on various ministry rolls from prophetic teams to helping on worship teams, art teams, dance teams, media teams, etc.
